Staying at Kinton

Kinton is set in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in this rural and secluded part of the Welsh Border.

Eating out (or in): The nearest Village is Marton 2.5 miles away where there is a small shop and 2 pubs, The Lowfield and The Sun Inn. If you need extensive supplies you are advised to stock up before you arrive. The Chequers Michelin star and the Dragon Hotel in Montgomery are 15 mins drive. The Nags Head at Garthmyle or Pontsbury, The Bridges pub and Bishops Castle are all within 30 mins. The Miners Arms at Preist Weston is a great place for a light weekend snack.
Wonderful walking and cycling: Starts right from the doorstep and you can hike to the megalithic site of Mitchells Fold and the peak of Corndon hill with its panoramic views of both England and Wales then down to the Miners Arms for a pint and a scotch egg. Further afield its a short drive to the Stiperstones, the Long Mynd, Offas Dyke to mention a few. BMX trails at Eastridge for the energetic cyclist or for a more sedate peddal, Lake Vynwy
Places of interest: Nearby is Powis Castle with its stunning gardens and magical history, Montgomery is a small market town with curios shops, eateries and ruined castle. The Historic Market towns of Shrewsbury and Ludlow are under an hour away.
Things to do and see: Take your pick from walking, fishing, kayaking, gliding, wild swimming, cycling, riding, clay shooting, castles, falconry, museums, churches, Snowdonia, The Iron Bridge, eating, steam railways, canal trips, gardens, rafting, helicopter rides, skydiving, boat trips, fossil hunting, or just relaxing by the fire with a good book and a glass of wine.
