The back of the top deck has been made into a spacious double bed with blinds and curtains to ensure a good night’s sleep. At the front of the top deck is a large and comfortable seat that has far reaching views and is a perfect perch from which to watch the birds, sheep and other wildlife.
There is a well-equipped kitchen, dining table and a cosy log burner downstairs. Some original seats lend a distinctive heritage feel while you browse the collection of books or play the games provided.
Outside there is a lean-to with covered BBQ camp fire and more heritage bus seats for alfresco dining. A private shower shack provides you with a flushing loo and hot shower with beautiful views.
There are gentle walks straight from the door and many small market towns within easy reach for dining out.
Or else you could just stay still and quietly snooze in the swaying hammocks … or, perhaps lie back and count the stars.
Old Number 1 is a limited-edition short-wheel base 1962 AC Regent and was one of only 5 buses made especially for the narrow twisty roads on The Isle of Man.
After many years of service she became the tour bus for the Island’s motorbike stunt team, The Purple Helmets, before sadly being left abandoned in a field.
She was re-discovered by Arrowscore in 2006 and was subsequently revived and turned into both an events and artists’ liaison bus for festivals. She was known as the Casio ‘G-shock bus’ and can be found online with pictures of Ed Sheeran, Blondie, Little Mix to name but a few.
Now, once again repurposed in her already long life, she sits awaiting your visit where you can spend some time relaxing with her in the gentle peace and quiet of the Kinton Quarry.
You can check availabilty with Frankie or on the Canopy & Stars website.
